# 17:34:31 lochlite Hello. I'm trying to get crosstool to work on my mac. (mountain lion). I've successfully (i think) compiled crosstool and I am able to run ct-ng menuconfig to make configfiles, but when I try to run ct-ng build it fails with: /usr/local/lib/ct-ng.1.17.0/scripts/functions: line 74: syntax error near unexpected token `&' and 100 other errors. Any clue?
# 17:39:08 braunr lochlite: make sure you do have bash
# 17:39:33 braunr ctng is probably not completely posix conforming
# 17:40:27 lochlite doing # bash gives: bash-3.2
# 17:41:17 braunr it may require 4.x without us knowing :/
# 17:41:20 braunr i'm really not sure
# 17:43:02 lochlite hrmpf. Okei, I'll try some more, or maby just leave it and do compilation over night on my raspberry pi :/ Thanks braunr
# 17:43:23 braunr no don't do that :p
# 17:43:30 braunr at least do it in a virtual machine
# 17:44:38 lochlite Hehe, good idea! :)
# 17:47:06 lochlite braunr: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1974361/building-toolchain-with-crosstool-ng-on-mac-os-x-sl feels like this: http://xkcd.com/979/
# 17:48:09 braunr eh
# 18:23:40 y_morin joins #crosstool-ng
# 18:27:46 y_morin braunr: indeed, it looks like this construct is only available with bash-4.x (x==?)
# 18:27:50 y_morin lochlite: ^^^
# 18:29:04 lochlite y_morin: Ok, thanks. I'll try :)
# 18:29:50 y_morin I wonder if we should update ./configure to check for bash-4, or if we should munge the code for bash-3.2... :-/
# 18:30:22 y_morin lochlite: at least, it works on bash-4.1.5 here.
# 18:34:25 y_morin braunr: what's even more frustrating than http://xkcd.com/979/ is: one post describing the exact same error, and a single reply by the same author, saying "OK, works now".
# 18:34:44 y_morin braunr: Then, I cry when it happens to me... :(
# 18:39:40 smartin quits : Quit: leaving
# 18:45:57 lochlite quits : Remote host closed the connection
# 18:48:21 y_morin Argh. too bad, lochlite's gone. I had a patch for him/her to try... :-/

# 20:13:54 y_morin Juv1228: Please, refrain from using such wording in the future on this channel.
# 21:16:35 Juv1228 y_morin, yea, i meant for that to go to a different network
