# 16:53:38 |

I think i should mention if I try to build it using buildroot |
# 17:14:35 |
whitespacebar |
should i use 2012-02-09: Released 1.13.4, kinda old but seems it was released specially to support buildroot |
# 17:16:13 |
whitespacebar |
i think i gotta try it first :) |
# 17:17:22 |
whitespacebar |
oh yea my buildroot is the latest release 2013.02 |

whitespacebar: looks like you've hit the 'recursive ./configure' problem. Is that what you oberve: a ./configure that seemingly loops for ever again and again? |
# 18:32:28 |
whitespacebar |
hi morin, yes, only if i enable the "experimental feature" |
# 18:32:54 |
whitespacebar |
if otherwise, it will throw error, similar with the last error on the log |
# 18:33:26 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: can you pastebin (or put on a website) the complete build.log? And your .config, too, please. |
# 18:33:31 |
whitespacebar |
any idea what could be the issue? |
# 18:33:39 |
whitespacebar |
ok sure, pls a moment |
# 18:39:47 |
whitespacebar |
please check this .config file |

# 18:40:47 |

about the log, any idea where should i put it? |
# 18:40:55 |
whitespacebar |
the size is about 4.5M |
# 18:41:33 |
whitespacebar |
i have put it inside upload.net, but i think it's inconvenience for you to download it |
# 18:41:34 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: compress it with bzip2 (or xz). Then put it on-line (eg. a public dropbox or whatever) |
# 18:41:43 |
whitespacebar |
ok |
# 18:41:46 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: just give the url, then. |

# 18:48:22 |

whitespacebar: Not sure how we solved it last time we saw it... |
# 18:48:54 |
whitespacebar |
lol, why do u think i can be trapped into this loop? |
# 18:49:27 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: I do not remember, neither the reason, nor the solution. Let's dig the mailing list... |
# 18:49:42 |
whitespacebar |
does it something to do with incompatibility with buildroot? |
# 18:49:56 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: not at all. |
# 18:49:57 |
whitespacebar |
ok i guess i will dig the mailing list |
# 18:50:36 |
whitespacebar |
btw should the experimental flag being set? |
# 18:50:58 |
whitespacebar |
i read somewhere this flag need to set in order to support the latest glibc |
# 18:51:35 |
whitespacebar |
without set this flag, it wont go into the loop, just directly exit error at the same place, with the same error msg |
# 18:51:42 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: you should update your crosstool-NG. Latest is 1.18.0 (you're using 1.17.0) |
# 18:52:09 |
whitespacebar |
yeah initially i use this latest 1.18.0 version |
# 18:52:19 |
whitespacebar |
same error, then i tried to downgrade |
# 18:52:37 |
whitespacebar |
to 1.17.0 |
# 18:54:36 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: I can't find the resolution of this issue (IIRC, it was on this channel, not on the list). Sigh memory gets worse with age... :-( |
# 18:55:40 |
whitespacebar |
no problem morin, thanks for your direction |
# 18:55:51 |
whitespacebar |
gotta dig the iirc history then |
# 18:56:10 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: Anyway, ct-ng 1.17.0 does not have the latest glibc versions. If you want them, upgrade (you'll get glibc 2.17) |
# 18:56:13 |
whitespacebar |
at least i can see some bit of light |
# 18:56:56 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: google for: site:crosstool-ng.org configure loops <- that should be a good starting point. |
# 18:57:10 |
whitespacebar |
all right |
# 18:57:15 |
whitespacebar |
how about the experimental feature flag? |
# 18:58:03 |
whitespacebar |
actually, need to set it or no need? |
# 18:58:58 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: in ct-ng 1.18.0, you won't need 'EXPERIMENTAL' to see all glibc versions. |
# 18:59:17 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: with ct-ng 1.17.0, you'll be stuck with at best glibc-2.14.1 |
# 18:59:41 |
whitespacebar |
i see |
# 19:00:00 |
whitespacebar |
so the purpose is only to enable the latest glibc |
# 19:00:25 |
whitespacebar |
any recomendation kernel? |
# 19:00:55 |
whitespacebar |
currently i choose 3.2 due to the long term version |
# 19:01:45 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: 3.2 is OK if you plan longterm, yes. Otherwise, stick with the latest. |
# 19:01:51 |

whitespacebar: it says: 'OK, the loop issue has been definitely identified! Yeah! :-)' |
# 19:02:27 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: No, we just have to look a bit back in the log to see what it was! :-) |
# 19:03:50 |
whitespacebar |
lol great |
# 19:06:39 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: It seems we fixed this 1.5 years ago: http://crosstool-ng.org/download/ibot-logs/2011-10-12.html#quick-15:17:30 |
# 19:08:05 |
whitespacebar |
wew that's seems i hit new issue here? |
# 19:08:37 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: the code is still the same: http://crosstool-ng.org/hg/crosstool-ng/file/cbaf37cc20b7/scripts/build/libc/glibc-eglibc.sh-common#l347 <- run through ${CONFIG_SHELL} |
# 19:08:45 |
y_morin |
whitespacebar: I hope not! :-( |
# 19:09:10 |

whitespacebar: what is your host distro? |
# 19:09:27 |

Hope its ok to ask EGlibc questions. Im trying to build eglibc in Cygwin, but compiling fails in ../ports/sysdeps/arm/nptl/pthread_spin_lock.c, due to infinite recursive include of the same C file.. anyone heard about this ? |
