Hello, I was wondering how to create a toolchain based on gcc 4.3.0 for my board |
# 19:02:06 |
joko |
I have been using this config for 5.2.0: http://archlinuxarm.org/builder/xtools/xtools-dotconfig-v7 |
# 19:02:17 |
joko |
And I was looking for a way to update it |
# 19:02:58 |
giminy |
hey joko. I was trying something similar (gcc 4.0 actually). it can be a bit hit-or-miss to get everything building correctly... |
# 19:06:39 |
giminy |
the gist of it is to enable the experimental features, and to get glibc, binutils, and gcc from around the same time, and point crosstool-nt to the tarballs via the 'custom' selection under each component |
# 19:07:25 |
giminy |
it seems like configure and make options for binutils, glibc, gcc have changed a lot over the years, so it does require a bit of looking at the build log to see what failed, figuring out why, and changing the crosstool-ng libraries to pass along the correct commands in the build process |
# 19:08:49 |
giminy |
after spending a few days struggling with that, I got upset and installed fedora core 7 and used a pre-built toolchain from ELDK for ARM. it is compiling and linking against my target board libraries now |
# 19:10:57 |
joko |
giminy: I see, many thanks |
# 19:11:47 |
giminy |
I was doing something stupid though: had to link against a shared library for which I do not have source |
# 19:12:07 |
giminy |
so, building my own header file and compiling a new application to use it. it is quite fun =) |
# 19:13:52 |
giminy |
although it does seem crosstool has features for GCC_4_3 |
# 19:14:12 |
giminy |
you might start by setting those CT_CC_GCC_4_4_or_later and other related flags to "n" |
# 19:15:01 |
giminy |
those variables set stuff in crosstool libraries to pass certain arguments to the build, since all the flags are set to "y" it will probably pass GCC version 5 build flags to your build, which probably will break it.. |
