hi o/ |
# 10:15:22 |

Some years ago https://github.com/diorcety/crosstool-ng propose to include clang in crosstool-ng. It has been refused because "clang doesn't support enough target". |
# 10:15:28 |
alkino |
what do you think about it, today. |

I never said: "clang doesn't support enough target" |

alkino: afaiu, diorcety and mingwandroid are still working on supporting llvm/clang, but there are some prerequisites that I have before llvm/clang support is added. |
# 11:21:00 |

I have been working to clean up crosstool-ng and make the gcc build simpler, that way adding llvm will be easier to maintain in the future. |

hi bhundven |
# 17:37:07 |
bhundven |
I had gotten lost for a few years doing systems admin stuff... I found myself the last few weeks remembering how to hack on u-boot and playing with buildroot and the linux kernel. feeling like a normal bryan again. :D |
# 17:40:41 |

got all my old boards out again. p1020rdb, ixp435. some of my others raspberry pi b+, galileo, and my two efm32 boards efm32gg and the efm32tg starter... still need to dig out the cavium octeonII |

hrm, I don't remember if it's the cn6 or cn5 octeon... I think the cn5 is octeon plus. |
# 17:41:59 |

bhundven: well that's a lot of boards |

bhundven: some of these seem to be quite professional such as the p1020rdb |
# 17:45:27 |
bhundven |
sadly, I have the older p1020rdb-pb |
# 17:46:27 |
bhundven |
but I'm trying to re-add the board for p1020rdb-bp... little wip branch: https://github.com/bhundven/u-boot/tree/p1_p2_rdb-wip |
# 17:47:50 |
bhundven |
I'm hoping to minimize it's add to the p1_p2_rdb_pc board. |
# 17:48:17 |
bhundven |
then move p1_p2_rdb_pc back to p1_p2_rdb (since it would then have pb, pc, and pd) |
# 17:48:49 |
bhundven |
pa doesn't make sense to add |
# 17:48:56 |
bhundven |
since it was so early |
# 17:49:25 |
enunes |
bhundven: that's cool, btw one of the products I work with still uses a p1020 |
# 17:49:57 |
bhundven |
but hey, I built a new ct-ng toolchain and ran the test suite on the board with latest components. It did pretty well. |

p1011, p1020, p2020, and p4080 |
# 17:52:08 |
bhundven |
p4080 was a beast |
# 17:52:33 |
bhundven |
but they ended up replacing it in the product line with x86_64... |
# 17:57:49 |
enunes |
was it better to work with x86_64? |
# 17:58:22 |
bhundven |
not as much fun |
# 17:58:24 |
enunes |
I have seen about the same happen, but here they ended up keeping the higher end powerpc lines |
# 18:00:11 |
bhundven |
I'll tag the decision as more political/business related, then which architecture to use... |
