milkylainen: was it you who said you use buildroot? |
# 09:37:35 |
milkylainen |
Trel: yes. Or whichever. Some process to guide you through cross building so you can learn. |

Buildroot, Yocto, Ptxdist, LFS. |

etc. |

I think it's a sound advice, but others are probably of another opinion. :) |

Trel: Ah. Sorry. Personally. I mostly use ptxdist. |
# 12:05:59 |
milkylainen |
But I do work with both Yocto and Buildroot from time to time. |

milkylainen: I asked because I was looking at buildroot and while it had a toggle for glibc, it didn't have anything to pick a version. Was thsy something configurable with ptxdist? I haven't looked at that one at all. |

I'm still 100% firmly in square one. I can't find anything at all that's helped in any direction. |
# 17:08:39 |
milkylainen |
Trel: It depends. Some build envs pick and build C library for themselves. Ptxdist uses the incoming one from the toolchain. |

Do you know of any that let you pick offhand or where I could ask to get some solid information on what I can use that will actually work? |
# 17:27:35 |

For building what I'm trying to build? |
# 17:28:10 |

(Ultimately first building the app image tools, and then the software I want but based off an older glibc for both.) |

I don't know if there is a build env that lets you pick glibc-version as you wish and base a modern set of programs on top of it. |

Trel: I use buildroot daily. For internal toolchains it has hardcoded version, eg. glibc-2.37-2-g9f8513dc64119a424b312db97cef5d87d376defa.tar.gz for 2023.08 |

When providing external toolchain, there is no option for that, but buildroot builds with given glibc. |

zagura: I'll have to look into how to use an external toolchain. I didn't see any option that pointed to it |
