One more crosstools question for now. What config option will override the 'unknown' part? I'm having the hardest time figuring that out. |

I think I missed a line or two there. |

A couple weeks ago, I asked about cross-compiling against older glibc. The advice I got was to statically link instead, and c.p. said older glib's are not supported because there tends to be too many issues with them. I wondered whether dlopen() could be used in a static executable. I finally tried it, and dlopen only works from a static executable if the glibc version used in the target library is the same as the one the host |

executable was statically linked against. And a static musl executable does not support dlopen(). |

So, I think I'm going to try and build an older glibc, and a toolchain to target it, not for the sake of running it, but so that I can link against it. |

Er, that is, I'll run the toolchain, just not the older glibc. |

plujon: Yeah. Using dlopen from a static was outside my knowledge. I think I guessed "no"? Or can't count on it. |

You guessed correctly (mostly, with the one caveat). |

milkylainen: was there anything said in the 2-3 hours between me saying 'graci' and you saying 'binutils 2.42'? |

Trel: nothing. It was just a comment regarding that binutils 2.42 is out. |

Ah I didn't know the current version to know that was a new one without context. I thought it was an answer to someone and I missed the question somehow. |
