We now only support glibc >=2.18
This now enables us to clean up glibc support!
Also, add a comment about glibc 2.20 as the point which glibc no longer
supports not building with pthread.

As per #222, in crosstool-NG >= 1.23.0, we will only support:
[upstream supported gcc versions] - 1
As of this writing, these versions are:
* 5.2.0
* 4.9.3
* 4.8.5 (the -1, since development on 4.8.x is now closed)
I plan to keep 4.8.5 around because of some architectures having issues
with over-optimization or just faulty optimization in the 4.9.x and
possibly newer versions.
I also cleaned up a requirement for glibc to depend on >= gcc-4.6.x for
>= glibc-2.20, but since the lowest gcc we support after this change is
>= 4.8.5, this condition can go away.
Patches for older gcc versions are removed in the next commit.
This closes #222

.. they're needed for the RPC generation in glibc
on both Cygwin and MinGW-w64.
Neither are built on GNU/Linux and iconv is not
built on Darwin.
Two patches for gettext are needed, one so that
-O0 works and one so that static builds can be
made.
They can take a good while to build, so if not
needed for_host or for_build then they are not
built.

* Add glibc 2.22
* Add a constraint on glibc-2.21 that depends on gcc-4.6 or greater.
See: https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-02/msg00119.html

* The minimum GCC version that can be used to build this version of
the GNU C Library is GCC 4.6. Older GCC versions, and non-GNU
compilers, can still be used to compile programs using the GNU C
Library.

The latest kconfig stuff is more stringent when it comes to validating
the dependency of the symbols. It is no longer possible to have a symbol
depend on itself (such as our construct for arch/cc/libc/... was doing).
Fix our generated-file infrastructure to avoid these situations when the
new kconfig stuff will be merged (in a following changeset).

This is an obsolete version which is no longer used by any sample (the only
user, the ia64 sample, has been removed).
It also makes the code path a bit complex, with twists just to accomodate
that version. Removing the version will make those twists go away, and
will ease commonalisation of glibc and eglibc in the future (hopefully!).

Add the option to build a cross-compiler for kernel type 'mingw'.
The resulting cross-compiler can be used to build applications on a Linux host
that can be run on a Windows target.
Compiler is build using the mingwrt and w32-api packages aviable from the
MinGW project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw).
The windows headers (w32-api package) are extracting with the kernel_headers
step The libraries and other headers from both packages are build and
installed in the various steps of libc

It's now been a while that glibc switched to git from cvs.
Get rid of cvs to download glibc; this will make for a good
cleanup before we add git support! :-)

Woo... It seems the glibc guys finally decided that tarballs
were not deprecated, in fact.
The patchset was vampirised from Gentoo (kudos, guys!), and
applies to glibc+ports, so that's why it's been added as a
patchset against ports, not against glibc.
|
|
These versions are kept for the upcoming release, but they
will be removed from the next release if they are not used.
|
|
glibc snapshots have not been updated for about the
past 5 months. Consider them to be deprecated, now.
|
|
The option to retrieve snapshots is already handled by
the generic 'specific date' and 'use latest' entries.
No need for a special case, as there's no code for it.
|
|
Add new versions at the top of the choice menu, not at the bottom.
|
|
It makes better sense to have latest versions at the top of the choice
entries.
